The ArchivesSpace Plugin is Here!
Let researchers request documents directly from your finding aid.
In continuing our efforts to simplify archival research requests, Sourcery is excited to announce the new ArchivesSpace plugin!
Each archival repository has a different process for requesting reference scans of archival materials, and these processes can sometimes be confusing for both researchers and archivists, take a long time, and lead to miscommunication. The new Sourcery ArchivesSpace plugin aims to alleviate these issues by integrating Sourcery’s easy-to-use request system directly into finding aids.
The Sourcery plug-in adds a “Request from Sourcery” button alongside each record in an ArchivesSpace installation. The plugin saves researchers time, freeing them from searching for relevant email addresses or navigating web forms that differ from institution to institution. It saves archivists the hassle of fielding vague or inaccurate requests by providing them with standardized information for each request. In this way, the Sourcery ArchivesSpace plugin streamlines the remote reference scan request workflow on both sides of the virtual “reference desk.”
Adding the plugin to your ArchivesSpace installation is easy to do. Simply download the free package and install it in the plugins directory on your ArchivesSpace server. More detailed instructions, the plugin’s source code, and additional technical information is available on our GitHub page. Please feel free to contact us by email or Twitter/X to put us in touch with your systems administrator with any questions.
